Privacy policy
Flekion is a photography game. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the app and flekion.com. For privacy questions or requests, email support@flekion.com.
Information we use
- Account information: your email address, account identifiers, display name, selected topics, account creation time, and when you accept the photo rules. Email codes are used to sign in and verify your email.
- Photos and participation: photos you submit, their thumbnails, optional captions, associated daily words and topics, submission times, and votes. These are associated with your account.
- Support messages: your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send when you contact us.
- Technical information: our service providers process network and device information such as IP addresses, request times, browser or operating system information, and authentication or error information to deliver and protect the service. We also maintain service usage counters to limit resource consumption.
Why we use it
We use this information to create and secure your account, send sign-in codes, provide daily prompts and topic feeds, publish your submissions, record votes and history, respond to support and privacy requests, prevent abuse, and keep the service working.
The app and website do not include advertising or behavioural analytics tools. We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.
What other players can see
Your submitted photos, display name, captions, related word and topic, and vote totals are visible to other signed-in players through the game. Captions can be revealed by players; they are not private messages. Your email address is not shown in the gallery. Personal history is available through your account, while photos that remain published can still be viewed by other players.
Only share photos you have permission to share. People who can view a photo may save or screenshot it. Deleting it from Flekion cannot remove copies someone has already saved.
Your camera, library, and photo metadata
The app uses your camera when you choose to take a photo and accesses images you select through the photo picker. Choosing or editing a photo does not publish it; you must tap Share. Cropping and matte generation happen on your device.
We resize and re-encode submitted photos and remove embedded metadata, including EXIF location metadata, from the images we serve. The image itself may still reveal personal information, such as a face, address, or recognisable location. Flekion does not request your device’s location.
Information on your device
Unsubmitted photo drafts and offline-demo photos and history are stored locally. They are not uploaded as game submissions unless you share through the cloud app. The offline demo does not send its photos, votes, or sample reports to the game service. Device backups may include local app data according to your device settings.
On phones, a sign-in refresh token is stored in the operating system’s secure storage. The web app keeps its sign-in session in memory. App preferences and drafts may use local storage. The marketing website does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
Service providers and international processing
- Amazon Web Services (AWS Cognito) provides account authentication and sign-in email delivery. Our authentication service is configured in the United States.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and game API and processes and stores game records and uploaded photos using its database, image, and storage services.
- Expo delivers compatible app updates. Update checks exchange technical app and device information needed to identify and download a compatible update.
- Email providers process messages you send to our support address and our replies.
These providers may process information in countries other than where you live. They receive information needed to operate their services. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to address fraud, abuse, or threats to safety.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and published game content while your account is active, unless you delete or replace it. You can delete individual photos in the app, or delete your account from Settings → Delete account.
Account deletion disables access to your content, removes your authentication account, clears your display name and topic preferences, removes your votes, and queues uploaded photos and related records for deletion. Photo storage cleanup is asynchronous and retries after service failures. Limited account identifiers, creation and deletion-status records, and operational usage records can remain after deletion; account deletion does not erase every operational record.
Provider backups and security records may persist according to the providers’ retention processes. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle your request, maintain a record of its resolution, and meet applicable obligations. Copies saved by other players are outside our control.
Deleting a cloud account does not erase separate offline-demo data or unsubmitted drafts on your device. Discard drafts in the app and remove local app data to erase device-local content.
Your choices and requests
You can change your display name and topics, delete your photos or account, and manage camera access in your device settings. You may also contact support@flekion.com to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, or to raise a privacy concern. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to a privacy regulator. We may ask you to verify account ownership before acting on a request. Never send us a sign-in code.
If you believe a child has provided personal information that should not be held by Flekion, contact us so we can investigate.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
